INVESTMENT SECTORS
While building a long-term ‘resilient’ portfolio, with appropriate risk analysis & risk management techniques adapted to permanent capital, Arpinge has devoted a great deal of attention to sustainability principles, focusing its investments in the main segments of the green transition: renewables, energy efficiency and mobility – while expanding in other business segments enabling the transition as well as focused on improving natural capital.
Arpinge’s activity is therefore organized within a single and coherent business model, but structured by sector and product segment. To date, by cross-referencing megatrend assessments with correlation analysis and sustainability focus, we have managed to be active in the following segments:
ENERGY & ENERGY EFFICIENCY
The Arpinge Group invests in renewable energy generation and energy efficiency improvement through the subholding Arpinge Energy efficiency & Renewables Srl (“AEER”), which is today the owner of:
- a portfolio of approximately 100 MW of operating plants powered by Renewable Energy Sources “RES” (Photovoltaic, wind);
- a portfolio of greenfield projects currently under development, including biomethane-producing facilities powered by agriculture and agri-food industry by-products as well as battery energy storage systems (BESS) plants.
AEER is also involved in the development of new projects (“greenfield”) in these areas and is currently expanding into further clean energy segments, such as storage and green gas.
In addition, a strong focus is on investing in the renewable technology chain and more structured energy efficiency improvement projects.
With qualified customers, the company is also ready to launch specific projects aimed at the conclusion of a long-term contract (“Power Purchase Agreement” – PPA) to favor the stabilization of energy price for institutional and large operators.
PARKING & URBAN MOBILITY
The Arpinge Group is the first national investor in the parking segment and the fourth in Italy by number of parking spaces.
Through the subholding Parkinge, it can be found in 6 important Italian cities with 15 multistorey car parks provided with more than 7,000 short-term parking spaces, that host over 3 million vehicles each year and generate a turnover of more than €10 million.
In its own area, Parkinge may also take part in the development phase of new projects (“greenfield”) by working towards a gradual transformation of car parks into smart, connected and energy assets, to support electric mobility as well.
Parkinge pays attention to investments in the mobility technological segment and aims to expand in other areas of this segment, in compliance with the Group’s investment principles.
NATURAL CAPITAL
Through the subholding Arpinge Natural Capital Srl, the Group is also active in developing sustainable investments aimed at improving natural capital assets and providing ESG services to businesses.
Arpinge Natural Capital develops environmental improvement projects mainly linked to forestry, aimed at improving CO2 removals, biodiversity and ecosystem services, while generating credits tradable on voluntary carbon and biodiversity markets.
Moreover, the Company supports the growth of high-potential businesses and research centres operating in the fields of corporate sustainability, environmental technologies and solutions, as well as on specialized services to private and public entities and organizations.
OTHER SECTORS
The Arpinge Group is also active in developing investments in other sectors, in parallel with increased capital raising, to further develop and strengthen its business model and the overall resilience of its portfolio.
Thanks to a careful analysis of megatrends and market scenarios, research into other areas of investment is targeted, among others, social infrastructure (i.e. used by local municipalities and universities), healthcare, digital transition, circular economy, plant building and life science.
